- The 12 Week Year: Get More Done in 12 Weeks than Others Do in 12 Months. Brian P. Moran, Michael Lennington. Yearly deadlines are way too long and that we tend to slack until the last minute, wasting too much time and having no time to maneuver left. Every moment is important, and shorter deadlines help make things happen, keep you motivated and build momentum. Summary and review.
- The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About It. Michael Gerber. What you have to do to run a company that delivers better service consistently, works better, and is worth more with less effort. TL,DR: work on your business not in your business.
- Influence. Robert Chialdini. To understand the psychology of sales and use it to your advantage. You have to read this book to understand the psychology of sales and use it to your advantage. You will sell better and be less prone to fall for sellers’ tactics Easy and full of good examples.
- Running Lean. Ash Maurya. The step by step application of Lean Startup & Customer Development that will help you with turning your idea into a business. Don’t waste your time building something nobody wants.
- Business Model Generation. Ostewalder & Pigneur. Their Business Model Canvas has revolutionized the way we think about creating business and accelerates a lot the creation of a viable business plan. Complemented with Ash Maurya’s Lean Canvas.
- Information Rules. Shapiro, Varian (yes, Google’s Hal Varian). A classic that is still applicable today and that will give you a lot of insight on why internet companies like Google do what they do. The examples are old but not the business logic.
- Pitch Anything: An Innovative Method for Presenting, Persuading, and Winning the Deal. Oren Klaff. Great book on how to pitch to anybody (investors, clients, audiences). Focus on the techniques and ignore the bragging.
- The Ultimate Startup Guide To Outbound Sales — Startup sales hacks. Steli Efti. Great primer to learn about selling and to improve your sales.
- Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-free Productivity. David Allen. The best book to help you get more things done, better and in less time with a lot less of stress. My fourth reading is approaching.
- The 7 Secrets of the Prolific: The Definitive Guide to Overcoming Procrastination, Perfectionism, and Writer’s Block. Hillary Rettig. The title says it all.
- Startup Communities. Brad Feld. To create thriving ecosystems in any city.
- The Coworking Handbook, My small business book about how to launch and run a coworking space. It is helping thousands of people with their coworking projects. You can read the first chapter free on Amazon and also this extract of the community chapter.
